Alex James Teberg

Alex James Teberg was born on November 23, 1987 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, Montana. He was the second child, and the first son, of Colleen and Greg Teberg. Alex grew up in the Helena valley and attended Four Georgians Elementary and C.R. Anderson Middle School. Weekends and summers during his childhood were often spent along the shores of Hauser Lake, camping, swimming, and seeking adventure with his family. During his early years, Alex enjoyed playing team sports, including baseball, basketball, and soccer. Together throughout their youth, Alex and his older sister enjoyed riding bikes, hiking, and exploring the creeks and waterways near their childhood home. Alex shared many memorable vacations and travels with his family. They valued days on ski slopes and rounds of golf together.

In 2006, Alex graduated from Capital High School. Thereafter, he moved to Missoula and studied history at the University of Montana. Alex was an ardent reader and a film and video game enthusiast. His movie collection was unrivaled. As a history aficionado, Alex took particular interest in war history. Although reserved and humble, Alex was a talented writer of poetry and song lyrics. He enjoyed listening to a vast array of musical genres. He had an imaginative and inquisitive mind and regularly engaged in thought-provoking conversations with family and friends. Alex loved animals and cared deeply for all of his pets.

Alex’s memorable laugh, warm smile, and sense of humor brought joy to others. He never failed to make friends anywhere he lived. He held many interesting jobs over the years, and he always appreciated and befriended his coworkers. He was a supportive, caring, and compassionate person. He dedicated time to adult education and participated in literacy programs, helping adults learn English. In any context, Alex found fulfillment in assisting others.

Alex passed away at home on September 5, 2019. He is survived by his father, Greg Teberg; mother, Colleen (Scott) Teberg; sister, Lisa (Rory) Teberg-Johnson; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Alex was a devoted son, brother, and friend. Despite challenges, Alex persevered through adversity and overcame significant obstacles. He had many goals, dreams, and aspirations for his future. He was a kindhearted person who left a lasting impression on all he knew. Alex will forever be remembered as a kind and generous soul. He will be missed dearly.

A celebration of Alex’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave., Helena, MT, with a reception to follow in the social hall of the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Alex’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
