Harold Edwin Stepper, 68, passed away peacefully at his home on February 28, 2019.
Harold was born March 8, 1950 to Edwin L. Stepper and Elizabeth (Wachholz) Stepper in Miles City, Montana. He was raised in Forsyth, Montana and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Education from Montana State University in 1972. He taught Ag Ed in Rapelje, Broadus and Forsyth, Montana. When he returned to Forsyth he also returned to work the family farm. In 1978 he left education and began farming and ranching full time.
In 1979 Harold married Nancy Whitson and they had three children.
He became the Rosebud County Weed Supervisor in 1982. In 1993 Harold and Nancy moved their family to Clancy, Montana. While in the Helena area he worked for the Montana Department of Agriculture and then Jefferson County as County Planner until his retirement in 2015.
Harold was a Past Master of Hiram No. 52 AF & AM in Forsyth and was a life member of Hiram No. 52 and Billings York Rite. He loved his family and was always proud of his children. In his later years he spent many hours creating welded metal sculptures.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years; daughter, Trudi (Laiben) Woods, Gillette, Wyoming; sons, Marc Stepper, Roundup, Montana and Eric (Crystal) Stepper, Chinook, Montana; and four grandchildren, Ethan Allard, Gillette, Wyoming, Tyler, Ryan and Addilyn Stepper, Chinook, Montana.
Funeral services will be held at the Federated Church in Forsyth, on July 19, 2019. Interment will be at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park in Billings.
