Donnie Ray Moore, age 75, passed away peacefully from natural causes on October 23, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. He fought a long battle with health issues and cancer.
Donnie was the first born child to Raymond Andrew Moore and Elsie Rose (Haacke) Moore on October 20, 1943 in Deer Lodge Montana. Donnie grew up in Pioneer/Wallace with two sisters and a brother. He attended grade school in Pioneer/Gold Creek after the eighth grade he went to Deer Lodge to attend high school.
After high school he joined the navy and for the next 4 years was stationed in Corpus Christi Texas. During his service in the navy he met and married Barbara Moore (Fehling). They were married for 19 years and had three children. He later married Deloris/Bug (Bean) Moore in Coeur d’Alene Idaho on September 30, 1993. They were married for 25 years and took residency in Helena, Montana until her death on December 2, 2016.
After the navy he moved his family back to Montana where he worked for a short time on the railroad. He then became a miner. Working in various mines of gold, silver and coal in Montana, Nevada, and Oregon until his retirement in the late 1990’s.
Donnie always had an adventurous side to him that usually included fun times. He enjoyed camping, fishing (ice), playing cards (for money) with family and friends, hunting and watching the Seahawks ; he was the biggest Seahawk fan. His family called him the fish whisperer. He looked forward to a fishing tournament every year for camp make a dream and many other derbies and tournaments.
Donnie is survived by his 3 daughters; Paula Moore of Helena MT., Karmen L’Hommedieu of Bend Or., and Bobbi Jo Jackson of Maple Valley Wa., 2 sisters and their husbands; Linda (Jack) Gerdts of St. Ignatius Mt., Janet (Bill) Dack of Helena MT., 4 grandkids Sky (Brandon) Gale, Page Green, Royal Green all of Helena Mt. and Jacob L’Hommedieu of Bend Or., 3 son-in-law’s Wade Green, Greg L’Hommedieu, and Steve Jackson, 5 nieces their husbands and children, 1 nephew, and his extended family in the Seattle Wa. area.
Donnie is proceeded in death by his parents Raymond and Elsie Moore, brother Gary Moore, wife Delores (Bug) Moore and his children’s mother Barbara Fehling and his two beloved dogs Misty and Jetta.
Donnie will forever be missed and loved by many family members and friends. He had a kind sole and never met a stranger that never became a friend. He passed away knowing that he would never be forgotten and always loved. He left a footprint on everyone’s heart.
