Jacobsen, Ronald Lee

Ronald Lee Jacobsen, 80, of Helena Montana, passed away while in Wyoming on Monday, March 11th, 2019. After fishing, hunting, and relaxing for his retirement years, he succumbed to Lewy Body Dementia, a fate not wished on our worst enemy.

Dad moved to Helena from Harlan, IA with his parents, Victor and Faye Jacobsen, at 2 years old. They made their home in Helena’s 6th Ward, and Ron was a proud 6th Ward Rat for life.

Dad went on to graduate from Helena High School, then working at Garrett Freightlines, and Dairyland Distributing, with Wednesdays being broken carton day, so the family got some frozen treats. Ron was then hired at The Helena Fire Department, where he worked for 23 years, retiring as a Batallion Chief. Dad, who most know as Jake, was known and is still known for his amazing work ethic and commitment to the job, a hardworking, hard ass to the end, a reputation he and we are, and always will be, proud of.

Ron met Marian Smith in 1964 and a short time later they were married and within 4 years gave a loving home to Michele Lynn and Glenn Stephen, 2 of the luckiest kids ever! Family was 1st to Dad, a trait he carried all his life. Thru the years of camping, fishing, hunting, motorcycling, and many other family adventures, Including the yearly Christmas tree hunt, our family was a happy one, a loud one, but a happy one.

Ron is survived by his former wife, Marian Jacobsen, who never gave up on the love and life they shared for 33 years, his children, Michele Faure, Glenn Jacobsen and grandchildren, Logan Faure, Josh (best looking) Faure, Derek Faure, Victor Jacobsen, who is named for Ron’s dad, Lydia Jacobsen and great granddaughter (still in the oven), Nora Dale Faure.

There will be no services, we all know Ron did not like to be the center of attention and was a private man to the end. Memorials can be sent to the Helena Fire Department.

Goodbye for now Ron, Dad, Grampa, and Great Grampa, till we see you again. Enjoy the coffee with Grampa Vic and Gramma Faye, and the telling of hunting and fishing stories that just get better with time. We love you.
