William ‘Bill’ Heer, Jr. of Helena, MT passed away on April 16, 2019.
He was born April 9, 1929 in Linton, N.D. to William Sr. and Martha Heer. Bill was one of five children.
Bill married Joyce Spriggle on November 18, 1948 in Bismarck, N.D. Soon after, they moved to Livingston, MT to raise their family. They had four children, sons, Billy, Terry and Douglas and daughter Bonnie.
Bill was a hard worker and over the years worked as a laborer doing farming/ranching, saw mill work, the railroad and owner of the Parkway Motel in Livingston for several years. Bill’s favorite work was helping his friend Jimmy with guided hunting trips. He loved to share stories of their many trips and successful harvests.
Bill moved to Helena in 1988. He spent many years as an active member of the First Baptist Church. He loved to garden and enjoyed sharing the rewards of his green thumb with family, friends and the Helena Food Share.
Bill and Joyce were married nearly 59 years before her passing in 2007. Also preceding him in death are his children, Billy, Terry, Douglas and Bonnie; his sisters, Irene Yager and Nancy Thompson and brother Bert.
He is survived by sister Eunice Grenz, grandchildren Sheli (Casey) Jacoby, Sam (Megan) Heer, Jill (Nick) Shannon, great-grandchildren Jordyn, Damon, Ava, Irelyn, Nicholas, Gabriel, Angelo, Juliano, and Vera. Several nieces and nephews, close family friends DD and Chris Clearman and Kent and Rosie Robinson.
At his request, a private family service will be held in Livingston at a later date.
