Dec. 22, 1920 – Nov. 11, 2017
Gwen Rose Francis went home to be with Jesus on November 11, 2017.
Gwen was born on December 22, 1920 to Leonard Trolan Davis and Beulah Marie Davis in Elgin Illinois.
Gwen worked at many jobs such as a saw mill in Goldendale, WA, Asarco Smelter, Foley’s Mill, Helena’s Bell Telephone Company, waitress work and was a salesperson as a young girl in Norman, OK, selling Liberty Magazines. She sold clothes, horses, Avon products, cards, as well as being a Stanley Home Products distributor for 50 years and worked at the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s department for 6 years.
Gwen loved horses, dogs, gardening and ranching with her husband, Joe. She loved people and volunteered as a Sr. Companion for 12 years; she also volunteered at the HOSTS program at Warren School. She started “Gwen’s Dog Motel” as a favor and it worked into quite a business using no kennels. Many friends were made through all these various occupations.
Although Gwen didn’t play an instrument, she loved to be where there was music and would sing along. She said that if music was played at her funeral she would rise up and dance!
She donated her body to the “Living Bank” in Bozeman, Montana.
Gwen was preceded in death by her mother, father, step-brother and her husbands, including Joe Francis.
She is survived by her three daughters: Gwenette Marie (Tom) Osborne, Helena, MT; Misty Jo Hammerbacker, of Jefferson Island, MT; Tana Rose Anderson of Bend, OR and step-son, Charles Joseph Francis of Medford, OR. 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren.
A special thank you to the Masonic Home staff for all your kindness. Also, a special thank you to Compassus Hospice for being there during the last days.
