Murray Fladeland, 57, of Helena, has been identified as the man found dead in Canyon Ferry Reservoir on Sunday.
Lewis and Clark County Sheriff/Coroner Leo Dutton said there is evidence to suggest his death was accidental, but “nothing is being ruled out.” The cause and manner of death have yet to be determined, and an autopsy was scheduled to be completed Tuesday.
A fisherman in a canoe found the man’s body floating in a small cove between the Chalet day use area and the Fish Hawk campground, Dutton said. The fisherman knew Fladeland and told authorities he thought he saw the man alive and well in recent days.
Dutton said Fladeland had camping and fishing gear in a camp set up at Fish Hawk and a car parked at the campground.
