A large prescribed burn was visible from Helena for most of Thursday and could continue for several days.
A Facebook post on the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest page said that due to wind and weather conditions, rangers went forward with a 200-400 acre burn in the Favorite Gulch area north of York.
"As long as conditions allow, this prescribed burn project may continue for several days," the post read. "SMOKE WILL BE VISIBLE!"
Firefighters and the Forest's social media will share photographs of the burn. The ignition was started by mid-morning on Thursday.
