Fifty-eight thespians from Capital and Helena high schools were awarded accolades and scholarships at the Montana State Thespian Convention 2019 that took place on Feb. 1-2.

Capital High seniors Matthew Kunnary, Seth Lang, Beatrice Pujol, Skylar Shields and Junior Reece Sheldahl completed a lengthy application process and competitive portfolio review to garner an Outstanding Troupe award for Capital High Thespian troupe #1378. Seth Lang won a $500 Merit Scholarship from the University of Montana Drama Dance Department, and Reece Sheldahl was appointed as member-at-large to the Student Thespian Officer State Board.

Helena High Troupe #745 was awarded Outstanding Comedy for “Lawyer;” Auriana Kent Outstanding Student Director-Comedy for “Lawyer;” Sara Betz Outstanding Student Playwright for “Lawyer;” Torin Trout Outstanding Lead Actor-Comedy, Christopher Duffy and the technical Crew were awarded Outstanding Set; Sarah Sizemore and the costume crew Outstanding Costumes. Sizemore won a $750 merit scholarship from the University of Montana Drama Dance Department, and Megan Cuddy and Torin Trout won $500 merit scholarships from the University of Montana Drama Dance Department.

There are two opportunities to see the show at 7 p.m. on Feb. 7-8 in the Helena High Little Theater. There is no cost for the show. Concessions will be available.
