Helena seeks city residents to fill seven board vacancies

The city of Helena has rolled out a newly designed website. The site contains 277 individual pages, down from 837. A mobile app is still in the works.

The city of Helena announced Thursday that applications are being accepted to fill seven vacancies on six city boards and committees:

  • The Helena Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance Committee is seeking one city resident representing a medical field for a term beginning upon appointment and lasting through Sept. 1. Among other duties, the committee “may review requests for reconsideration of complaints forwarded by the ADA coordinator … make determinations as to the validity of complaints, and … provide descriptions of the resolution of those grievances that have been appealed.”
  • The Helena Board of Adjustment, which considers applications for variances of the city zoning ordinance, is seeking one city resident for a term beginning upon appointment and lasting through 2021.
  • The Helena Zoning Commission is seeking one city resident for a term beginning upon appointment and lasting through 2021.
  • The Helena Open Lands Management Advisory Committee is seeking one city resident for a term beginning upon appointment and lasting through 2021.
  • The Lewis and Clark County Heritage Preservation and Tourism Council is seeking one Helena resident for a term beginning upon appointment and lasting through 2021. Council members should have a “demonstrated interest in protecting or promoting the heritage resources of the City and/or the County.”
  • The Helena Public Art Committee is seeking two city residents for terms beginning upon appointment. One term lasts through the end of 2019 while the other lasts through the end of 2020.

Applications for all vacancies are available online at https://www.helenamt.gov/commission/boards-and-committees.html or can be requested from City Clerk Debbie Havens at 406-447-8410 or dhavens@helenamt.gov.

All applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Dec. 13 either electronically or by mail to the City Clerk's Office at 316 N. Park Ave., Room 323, Helena, MT 59623.
