Central and southern Lewis and Clark County are included in a winter storm warning in effect from 3 p.m. Tuesday to 12 a.m. Thursday morning.

Snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected at lower elevations, and accumulations of 7 to 14 inches are expected in the mountains, the National Weather Service reported.

The warning includes Helena, Lincoln, MacDonald Pass, Rogers Pass, Raynesford, Stanford, Hobson, Lewistown, Winifred, Lewistown Divide, Grass Range, Montana City, Boulder, Boulder Hill, Elk Park Pass, Homestake Pass, Whitehall, Toston, Townsend, Winston, Martinstale, White Sulphur Springs, Great Falls, Cascade, Belt and Kings Hill Pass.

“Travel could be very difficult to impossible,” the warning says. “Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
