Sounds like the Last Chance Gulch corridor from Lyndale to the junction near T-Mobile will be seeing some great new buildings! The property owned by the city (old Transfer Station) is being sold and the plans to develop are purported to possibly include a five-story building with underground parking – suggested tenants could include a clinic, a credit union, and more. Just north, on the corner where Café Zydeco was, another three-story building is being planned. There could also possibly be a new bank along this route. What a great redevelopment of this corridor into the downtown.

The terminal building project at the Helena Regional Airport is coming right along. Airport Manager Jeff Wadekamper said Phase II is on time and on budget. It should be fully enclosed this fall and that section will open in March or April for 2020. The final Phase III should also be completed in the fall of 2020. They just finished a paving project for the general aviation parking for aircraft over near Exec Air, plus a repaving project was completed this summer for the driving track at the training center. They also are in the midst of an upgrade to the emergency communication systems. Busy times at the airport to keep Helena at the forefront of air travel!
A couple of casinos are within a few months of opening. Heidi’s Casino just north of the Comfort Suites has closed and is now working on the interior. Also new will be Fritzie’s Casino on the north side of Fuel Fitness. Fritzie’s is owned by Chris Sandrock who also owns the Sunset Casino on Euclid. Watch for their openings – possibly before Christmas.

There are a couple of Halloween pop-up stores now open. One is in the old Shopko Building and the other one is in the former Shoe Carnival store next to TJ Max. Another suggestion for Halloween costumes is always to check out the Good Samaritan Thrift Store and Goodwill. Sometimes you can find the most creative options for a low cost!
