Three new trustees will be sworn in Tuesday night at the Helena Public Schools Board of Trustees meeting slated for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at the Ray Bjork Learning Center, 1600 8th Avenue.
They are Luke Muszkiewicz and Jeff Hindoien, representing the K-8 district on the K-12 board, and Jennifer Walsh, representing Wolf Creek and Trinity school districts. Walsh ran for election unopposed. All will serve three-year terms.
Muszkiewicz and Hindoien take seats vacated by Aidan Myhre and Cherche Prezeau, while Walsh replaces Tina Huffsmith. All three incumbents chose not to run.
The board is slated to take action on renewing Superintendent Jack Copps' $155,000 contract for one more year. He was hired in May of last year.
It includes no medical benefits, said Copps, who has his own medical plan.
The board is expected to vote on a two-year contract with the Helena Education Association.
It has a zero increase in the salary matrix the first year, said Copps. The second year has a 1.5 percent increase to the matrix if a school mill levy is run and passes. If a levy fails, then there would be a ½ percent increase.
