Two Helenans who were stopped by the Montana Highway Patrol in East Helena are accused of committing various crimes.
Stephan Jacques Pennington, 25, is being charged with felony possession of heroin, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor obstructing a peace officer, misdemeanor resisting arrest and misdemeanor driving without insurance.
Mystery Rain Bonacci, 23, is being charged with felony obstructing justice and misdemeanor obstructing a peace officer or other public servant.
Pennington and Bonacci were stopped by a Highway Patrol officer on May 8. Pennington was driving a car without front plates and without registration. Both Pennington and Bonacci gave the officer a false name in order to avoid the felony warrants out for Pennington’s arrest, court documents say.
Pennington attempted to run away as the trooper was attempting to arrest him. The trooper subdued him in a gas station parking lot with the help of a citizen, according to court documents.
During a search of his vehicle, authorities found a syringe loaded with heroin, a gram of heroin and a spoon and scale containing drug residue, according to court documents.
