A man suspected of stabbing another man multiple times in Bozeman Jan. 19 was arrested in East Helena Tuesday and issued a $500,000 bond Thursday.

Jonathan Meyer, 20, appeared in Lewis and Clark County Justice Court Thursday on a Gallatin County warrant for attempted deliberate homicide.

Bozeman police responded on Jan. 19 to a man reporting that his roommate had been stabbed, according to an affidavit supporting Meyer’s arrest. The victim was stabbed multiple times near his heart.

The alleged victim was able to fight back, at one point kicking his attacker and putting him in a chokehold, court documents say. The suspect was able to break free and flee the scene.

A subsequent investigation led police to suspect Meyer, based on the alleged victim’s relationship with Meyer’s ex-girlfriend, court documents say. Police cited further evidence in support of the arrest warrant, including dash-cam footage of a vehicle matching Meyer’s in the area and alleged statements he made to his ex-girlfriend.
