A 31-year-old Helena woman faces a felony charge for allegedly attempting to alter the outcome of her urinalysis.

Authorities say Carrie Ann Allen attempted to pass off cold toilet water for her sample at the state probation and parole office Friday. Allen is jailed on a felony charge of tampering with evidence.

After escorting Allen to the restroom to provide a sample, the probation officer noticed the urine appeared diluted and the receptacle was "extremely cold to the touch." Allen told the officer that was due to her drinking large amounts of water when she menstruates, according to court documents.

The officer suspected Allen had given her toilet water for the sample. Allen later told police she had accidentally dropped the container into the water, the documents note.
