A Helena man is accused of threatening a police officer with a knife after yelling "shoot me, shoot me."
Eric Mitchell Jordan, 25, is jailed on a felony charge of assault with a weapon.
On Saturday, authorities received a report of a man holding a knife to his throat near the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Montana Avenue. The suspect, Jordan, also was seen walking into traffic, court documents state.
A responding officer recognized Jordan and attempted to speak with him. Documents say Jordan yelled at police to shoot him and then rode away on his bicycle.
Officers followed Jordan, who refused to stop. After several blocks, Jordan stopped his bike and put the knife to this throat again.
"During the altercation, (Jordan) made verbal threats of harming others and then pointed the knife at another officer and moved toward that officer," a police officer noted in court documents.
Following substantial negotiations, officers took Jordan to the ground. Jordan is accused of fighting with the officers, attempting to kick them.
In addition to the felony charge, Jordan faces misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.
