A 29-year-old Helena woman is facing a felony charge for allegedly hitting a child with a ring on her hand.
Cheryl Justine Young is being charged with assault on a minor.
An officer was called by a Child Protective Services worker Wednesday afternoon. The officer responded to an educational building to assess injuries to the 4-year-old child and found substantial bruising on the child’s buttocks, according to court documents.
The officer decided the bruising was not accidental and located Young, according to court documents. The officer questioned Young after she waved her Miranda rights, and she admitted that she caused injury by hitting the child with an open hand that had a ring on it, according to court documents.
Young also admitted that her use of force was excessive, according to court documents.
