A Helena man is accused of breaking into a store and attempting to open a safe.

Jory Jerae Songer, 18, is being charged with burglary after being found by a police officer in a vehicle near the premises.

An officer responded to a report of a burglary at a closed business early Wednesday morning.

The officer found a vehicle with three males in it, including Songer, according to court documents.

The business’ manager arrived and confirmed that the three were seen entering the store on surveillance footage, the documents note.

The officer then viewed the surveillance video and saw Songer entering the business. Songer opened the cash register and checked for keys to the business’ safe, according to court documents.

The documents state Songer was unable to find or take items worth anything before fleeing.
