A 27-year-old Helena man faces a pair of felony charges and one misdemeanor stemming from allegations that he nearly struck multiple pedestrians while leaving the scene of an alleged theft.
Andrew Justin Witham faces felony charges of robbery and criminal endangerment and a misdemeanor count of theft.
Officers responded to the 3100 block of North Montana Avenue Tuesday for a report of a shoplifter who fled the scene and nearly struck pedestrians with his vehicle, according to court documents.
Witham is accused of stealing several bags of candy from a clearance cart and then getting into his vehicle. Witnesses reported that he drove toward one pedestrian, and surveillance allegedly shows the vehicle nearly striking others while traveling in reverse, court documents state.
