A 46-year-old Helena man is accused of trying to start fights in a bar and then fighting police officers as they attempted to arrest him.
Daniel James Troupe is being charged with assault on a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest.
Early Wednesday morning, police officers were dispatched to a Helena bar regarding two disorderly males. When the officers arrived, a bar employee told them that Troupe and another man were attempting to start fights with other customers, according to court documents.
An officer made contact with Troupe and told him he was being banned from the bar. Troupe refused to provide identification or his last name and attempted to leave the bar, according to court documents.
The officer then placed Troupe under arrest and Troupe became aggressive, fighting both the officers until he was subdued, according to court documents.
