Sometime during the weekend of Nov. 24 a bull elk was poached south of Hysham off of Sarpy Creek Highway near the Treasure-Big Horn county line.

The elk was shot without permission on private land. The head was removed and most of the meat was wasted. It is believed to be a mature bull elk.
