Congratulations to Allan and JoLyn (Bradley) Kuser for recently celebrating 50 years of marriage! The couple enjoyed their golden anniversary with family, friends, music, pictures and food at their home in the Helena valley. The evening was a beautiful walk down memory lane complete with a surprise visit from one longtime friend who has known the couple since high school.

Although Allan was born in Pennsylvania, and JoLyn was born in Michigan, both families relocated to Riverside, California, when the two were just in middle school. The couple recalls meeting for the first time when they were in the eighth grade. They hit it off right away, and by their senior year their classmates voted them "best friends." The high school sweethearts officially tied the knot on Dec. 16, 1967, just a few months after graduation.

Their first two children, Jessica (Kuser) Molina and Jason Kuser, were born in Sacramento, California, where they were living while Allan completed his bachelor's degree in wildlife biology and environmental resources. In 1974, (after admiring some pictures of Montana in a calendar) the family of four decided to pack up the Volkswagen van and head east. Both Allan and JoLyn instantly fell in love with the big sky, mountainous state of Montana and eagerly embraced the down to earth country lifestyle. In the mid 1980s, while living in Lewistown, God blessed them with two more children, Carolyn (Kuser) Belling and Benjamin Kuser.

From there, the family made their final (for now) move to Helena, where they continue to reside today. Allan is the fishing access program coordinator for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks and JoLyn worked for the Helena School District, and later as a travel agent, until she recently retired. In addition to raising their four biological children, over the last 40 years Allan and JoLyn have opened their home to more than 50 foster children, many of whom still refer to the couple as “Mom and Dad.”

They are lead teachers in the children's ministry at First Assembly of God, and are enthusiastically involved in the lives of each of their nine grandchildren. For fun, the active couple enjoys mountain biking, kayaking, hunting, horse back riding, roads trips with their camper, and recently decided to start snow shoeing.

So what's their secret? First, faith in God (always keeping Him the center of their relationship), unconditional love (love conquers all), laughter (the best medicine), commitment (to each other, their family, and their beliefs), forgiveness (and forgetfulness lol) and of course always remaining best friends.
