The Metropolitan Dinner Club Presents “The Stone Trio” on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
The Stone Trio is an jazz ensemble made up of family members from three cities in two states. The group comes together several times a year to make music in Seattle, Great Falls, Helena and Denver. They play unique arrangements of American Songbook standards, Brazilian classics and original compositions.
Trombonist Don Stone is well known to audiences around the Northwest. Don is recognized for his skill as a jazz soloist and ensemble player and tours with the renowned Black Swan Classic Jazz Band of Oregon. He plays in numerous local (Helena) jazz groups as well as serving as principal trombonist for the Helena Symphony Orchestra.
Don’s younger brother, George Stone ,is the “heart” of the trio with his skillful touch on the seven-string guitar. George is a very active musician in the Seattle area, appreciated for his sensitivity in accompanying singers. George’s quintet, Ambience, is much sought after for concerts, weddings and special events.
Tobi Stone is George’s daughter and is a well-known part of the Seattle jazz community. Tobi expertly plays a variety of woodwind instruments including saxophones, clarinet and flute. She is a member of the prestigious Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, and numerous other busy Seattle music projects such as the Jefferson Rose Band and The Tipton’s. Her picture has appeared twice on the cover of Earshot Jazz magazine, a widely read Seattle jazz publication. Tobi is much sought after as a teacher of woodwind instruments.
No host cocktails are at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6 and entertainment at 7 in the banquet room at Jorgenson’s. Dinner for each member and their guest/s is $18.50. Non members are $30 each. New members welcome. Reservations required. Call Patti at 202-1766
