It is confirmed. The Montana Club Restaurant out of Missoula will definitely be building in Helena. They have submitted their plans for permits and will be located on Custer Avenue next to the new (and nearly ready to open) Mountain View Co-op. The Montana Clubs are fairly large restaurants with an extensive menu. They are currently located in Missoula (2), Kalispell, Great Falls, Butte and Billings.
The Mountain View Co-op will soon be open in Helena with a gas and convenience store, which will also feature a fast food component called the Blu Taco. The store is just west of Better Body Fitness along Custer Avenue. These Cenex stations are located around central and north-central Montana and are part of a co-operative with a board of directors.
A couple of businesses in the downtown area have new owners.
The Gold Bar/The Western Bar at 400 N. Last Chance Gulch are now owned by Sara Hamblock and her husband Joe Schmechel. Sara formerly worked at the Blackfoot Brewery. They are excited to breathe some new life into an already great, established business. They are very happy to be a part of the downtown Helena community. Stop in for a refreshment, plus they have a great kitchen with great chef featuring interesting specials daily. Stop by The Western side from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and check out their breakfast and lunch specials. In addition to a pick-up window on the south side, they have a small dining area. Bar hours at The Western Bar are 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. and at The Gold Bar - it is open from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Check out their Facebook page under Gold Bar and Western Bar. Sara noted that their kitchen will also cater lunches to offices. Call 442-2250 to order.

Shalon Hastings has sold Taco del Sol (as of May 31) to her former manager, Emily Reardon. Emily has been with Taco del Sol since it opened in 2004 in Helena and the last six years as the manager. She plans to continue to have the same great food at the 21 N. Last Chance Gulch location on the Walking Mall downtown. Stop by on Friday 31 to wish her and her staff well as she takes ownership of this popular restaurant. (And make sure you partake in one of their famous burritos.)

Just a reminder for you to plan ahead and continue to support the businesses affected by the street project along Front Street as the city replaces infrastructure and repaves the street that is just along the east side of the Great Northern Town Center. Especially remember Gulch Distillers and Bad Betty’s BBQ – both are great places to enjoy good food and spirits. I know they will appreciate you making the effort to stop by as they weather the street project. Other Front Street businesses affected by the street closure are SoFi, SMA Architects, Information Technology Core, Front Street Learning Center, Best Western Premiere Helena Great Northern Hotel (Conference Entrance), Helena Job Service, and the Federal Reserve. The project is expected to last two to three months so they will appreciate your patience and support.
