Helena Young Professionals is holding its annual Pal-entine’s Day speed networking event on Feb. 19 at Lewis & Clark Brewing Co.
Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and networking starts at 6.
“There’s time for people to get a beer and mingle during registration and then we pair them up at a long table,” said Alyssa Sorenson, Helena Young Professionals Board president. “Then all but one person moves down so they get a new person.”
The event is an opportunity for young professionals in Helena to make new friends and business connections in a relaxed atmosphere.
Speed networking gives participants about five minutes to meet and make a connections with a new person. Sorenson said they provide conversation prompts but she doesn’t think they’ve ever been needed.
“This is a chance to share who you are, where you come from, why you’re here (in Helena) and what you do in town,” Sorenson said. “It’s a great opportunity to make connections and find recreational partners.”
She said she knows there are a few Realtors involved who have met people looking for homes. There also have been meet ups arranged by members who are in social media to further their network in town.
Being involved with the group is a great way to help promote your small business and help each other give a push to where they are trying to go, Sorenson said.
There is no age limit to become a member or participate in events. Sorenson said she sees people ages 22 to about 45 and that it’s up to the individual to decide if they want to be a young professional.
Participants don’t need to be a member of the young professionals, everyone is welcome. This event is free for current HYP members and $5 for non-members. Registration is required and can be done online at http://www.helenayoungprofessionals.org.
