Fiesta Mexicana has settled into its new location on US-12 East.
The restaurant closed it's location on Prospect Avenue and remodeled the former pizza restaurant space connected to Lucky Bucky's Casino to give it a more "home-like feel," owner Nicolette Murillo said.
The business is working with casino owners Todd and Chad Bachmeier for further renovations, which will include Fiesta Mexicana’s food being served on both sides of the building.
Fiesta Mexicana began 10 years ago in Idaho when Murillo’s husband, Felipe Murillo, opened a restaurant with his brother. They moved to Montana and franchised their restaurant and recipes to towns, large and small, all across Montana.
“We work hard for our reputation,” Murillo said. “We are family-owned and operated. Everything is made-to-order and fresh. We also have a nice family atmosphere now that the renovations are done.”
As for what’s on the menu? Murillo says that the chili-verde is incredibly popular at the moment.
“I always tell people I married by husband for his carne asada,” laughed Murillo. “It’s thick-cut steak and not flank steak.”
However, the restaurant has many menu options ranging from traditional Mexican fare to hamburgers.
Murillo said eating in the restaurant is like eating at her mother-in-law’s house. Felipe Murillo is originally from San Miguel el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico, and Nicolette is from Salt Lake City, Utah.
