With the warmer and sunnier weather, things are starting to get busy around town — especially downtown. The 27th Spring Art Walk is on Friday, May 4. This date coincides with First Friday and also with Star Wars Day — so it is a great opportunity to get in touch with your “geek” side and dress up in Star Wars gear — perhaps even your light sabers! The Art Walk will feature a diverse range of artwork created by Montana artists — many who are local. Live music and refreshments will be available at select locations.

Downtown Helena Inc. and the Business Improvement District are excited to announce the recipients of grant dollars for Façade Improvement. A $10,000 grant goes to The Cottonwood, LLC on Fuller Street, $5000 grants go to The Painted Pot and Sage & Oats Trading Company. Look for great projects at those locations over the summer!

A Helena-based company, Mountain-Pacific Quality Health, may be a well-kept secret but CEO Sara Medley wants everyone know about their milestone of 45 years of improving health care! Located at the end of Cooney Drive, the non-profit organization started in 1973. “The hard work and dedication of their staff who have, over the years, given (and continue to give) their all to improving access to health care that is high-quality, safe and of value to those we serve”, is what Medley attributes to their longevity and growth. As one of 14 Medicare Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organizations in the nation, Mountain-Pacific works on initiatives that focus on improving the delivery of health care and the systems that provide it. Exciting news for fitness and gymnastics enthusiasts — Helena Kidsports is rebranding to Gym406 and moving their operations to the former Carpet Garage building between Les Schwabs Tire and Big Lots. In addition to their gymnastics and children’s activity programming that they’ve offered for over 30 years, they will be adding a new American Ninja Warrior gym and indoor play center for preschoolers & elementary children. Owners Betsy and Denny Allen are really excited about the air-conditioned 21,000 sq. ft. building that will allow for increased birthday party and open gym offerings. We’ve all been watching the progress on the Highway 55 — Burgers, Shakes, and Fries building at 2530 N. Montana Avenue. The building is well on its way to completion, and the opening is planned near the end of May. You can follow them on Facebook under Hwy 55 — Burgers, Shakes and Fries (Helena, MT). They will be looking to hire staff and info can also be found for that on the Facebook page.
