Joe Epler Present LOOKING BACK By Curt Synness Twenty-five years ago, the late Jon Danzer (1976-2019) captured the Helena Senators’ 1994 Earl Tucker Trophy as team batting champion, with a .383 average. Jon also led the Senators with 51 hits and a .434 on base percentage, and was No. 3 with 27 RBIs and 24 runs (tie). The rest of the team’s .300 hitters were Adam Bell with a .327 mark, Jeff Foster at .316, Paul Clarke at .311, Jarod Wilke with a .306, and Jake Connor’s .301. Connor was high with Jon Danzer 42 runs and 9 doubles, while Steve Bennett was the club’s home run (8) and RBIs (32) leader. Bennett who later pitched in the Class AA minor leagues for the New York Mets - led the staff with 5 wins, and 97 strikeouts in 78 innings. Matt Tavary’s 4.14 ERA was low on the Senators that season.
