After a blowout loss to open the series, the Helena Brewers responded with a blowout win of their own against the Idaho Falls Chukars on Wednesday, winning 12-2.
The score was tied at 1-all until the fifth inning, when the Brewers exploded. Pablo Abreu hit an RBI single. Yeison Coca followed that with a triple to score two more. Chad McClanahan reached on a throwing error, scoring a run in the process. And then, David Fry capped it off with a two-run bomb over the center field fence.
Jean Carmona hit a triple in the seventh to score two more Brewers runs, before McClanahan once again reached on an error and scored two runs in the ninth. Bryan Torres also reached on a fielding error, scoring the Brewers 12th run.
The Chukars added one final run in the bottom of the ninth when Jose Caraballo grounded out.
The Chukars finished the game with five errors.
Wilfred Salaman (2-1) got the win on the mound for Helena, throwing six innings while giving up five hits and one earned run and striking out three and walking one.
Helena (14-12) takes on Idaho Falls again on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. for the third game of a four-game series.
