HELENA -- Level 10 gymnast Mikelle Ballard became the first Mount Helena gymnast in 17 years to win an event final at Coeur d'Alene's Great West Gymfest, when she captured the uneven bar championship last weekend. Ballard also added third-place finishes in vault and floor exercise. Her top six placing on Friday sent her to event finals the next evening.

Level 8 Lily Bohler placed third on floor and vault, while Reese Esponda and Shi Jia Sullivan helped MHG finish sixth in the team event.

L-7 Emma Rohrer-Fitzhugh placed fourth on floor, and teammate Mikayla Hall took sixth on vault. At L-6, Samaire Gittings and Emma McCauley added a pair of silver medals, on beam and floor.

At L-4 on the vault, Savannah Taylor won her age group with an 8.725, Avery Popp placed third in the juniors, Abbey Olson captured the Senior C title, and Brailey Sublette earned a bronze. Junior A competitor Grace King added a fourth on floor.

MHG's L-3 team was paced by Marlie Hammond, who garnered the all around with a 35.875 and added golds on bars, beam and floor in the Children’s B division. Collecting thirds were Addison Thalheimer on floor, and Bella Yearry on bars and beam.

Delaney Stearns won beam in the senior division, Bailey Olds continued the excellent vault trend of the weekend, and Lily Yearry and Kenna Moore placed fourth on floor and seventh on bars, respectively.
