Earlier this month, after the Hel'z Belles roller derby team defeated Butte's Copper City Queens in the season finale at the Lewis & Clark Fairgrounds, teammates and fans celebrated the departure of three of the Belles in their final game for the Helena club.

"We've played together here for seven years, but the three of us are retiring to play for Team Montana," related Sara "She Hates Me" Murgel, a jammer who can also block.

The other two Helenans moving up the ladder with Murgel are Kristy "Bambi Boozled" Fortman and Kristeen "Woof Blitzer" Wofford, who are both blockers.

"Woof has been a fierce competitor and has shared her love of derby strategy with the Belles and may other leagues throughout her career," according to the Hel'z Belles Facebook page. "And Bambi's derby brain and skills on and off the track have helped build our league."

As for She Hates Me, the Facebook site stated, "(She) has brought crowd-pleasing entertainment to many cheering fans over the last seven years."

Team Montana is made up of 32 women from Bozeman, Great Falls, Butte, Kalispell, Missoula, Billings and Helena. The Capital City threesome qualified for the state club through tryouts that took place in Great Falls, Helena and Billings.

"We have a traveling practice and we'll play in tournaments across the nation, and will rule the world," Murgel said with a grin.
