GREAT FALLS -- Mikhail Gavrilenko's first goal as a Bighorn proved to be the difference as Helena beat the Great Falls Americans 3-2 Friday at the Great Falls Ice Plex.
Gavrilenko's power-play tally with just over six minutes remaining broke a 2-all tie four minutes after the Americans had scored to even the game. Shawn Mitchell and Gavin Cline assisted on the game-winning goal.
Kaden Lindberg (5) and Richard Groskops (3) also lit the lamp for the Bighorns in the win. Cline finished with two assists on the night, and Hayden Seitz and Jarett Scheibel also had helpers for Helena.
Nick Battaglia was strong in goal for the Bighorns, stopping 27 of 29 shots in the win. Helena also held Great Falls scoreless on four power-play opportunities and peppered Americans' goalie Bryan Sharp with 47 shots.
The Bighorns play again Saturday, hosting the Missoula Junior Bruins. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Helena Ice Arena.
