Once again unable to generate much offense, the Helena Bighorns fell at Great Falls on Thursday, 6-1.
Helena finished with only 27 shots in the loss, not scoring until Ben Kottmeier took an assist from John Heddle and sent it home with just 98 seconds to play to avoid the shutout.
Bighorns keeper Nicholas Battaglia, meanwhile, faced 57 shots in the loss. He gave up three in the first and second period, including two from Adam Vandenbos.
The teams will meet up again on Friday, when the Helena Ice Arena shifts back to the Queen City Ice Palace and the Bighorns turn, for one night, into the Ice Pirates -- honoring the city’s first hockey team.
The puck is set to drop for the throwback night at 7:05 p.m.
