CASCADE -- Townsend claimed the runner-up trophy and Jefferson finished third after the final day of the Cascade Wrestling Invitational on Saturday. With their third-place performance, the Panthers took home a trophy from the Cascade tourney for the first time since 2002.
Jefferson was led by runner-up placers Jacob Travis at 138 pounds, Nate Burnett at 170 and Nick Workman at 205. Emma Brown finished third at 103, while Cody St. Clair and Derek Nygaard both took fourth, at 120 and 182 respectively. The rest of JHS' placers were Michael Mitchell (113) and heavyweight Nathan Rasch, both fifth; and Brett Hale (160) in sixth.
The Bulldogs' Kameron Rauser, Ty Steel and Easton Held captured individual championships. Rauser garnered the 152-pound title with a win over teammate Tyler Groh, and was selected the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler. Held won the 126 crown and Steel claimed the top spot at 145. Also placing second were Sam Lane and Justin Denton, at 113 and 182 respectively. Rounding out Townsend's placers were Alonzo Chatman (138) in fourth, Nate Meagher (103) fifth and Will Lane (145) at sixth.
