Helena High grad Hayden Schrull placed eighth at the Junior Greco-Roman National Wrestling Championships in Fargo, North Dakota, recently. A two-time State champion for HHS in 2016-17, he went 4-2 in the tourney, making All-American at 182 pounds.
Schrull, who will grapple for the University of Providence this fall, won his first three matches, highlighted by an 11-5 decision over John Stillings (Pennsylvania) in the third round. Last yea,r Stillings placed third in Greco and fourth in freestyle in Fargo.
After dropping his quarterfinals match, Schrull defeated James Scott, the reigning Washington State Viper Quad champion, 13-3, while earning All-American and qualifying for the seventh-place match. There, he lost to Lucas Davison (Indiana) and finished eighth.
