BOZEMAN — The Bozeman Hawks captured the LeProwse Invitational Wrestling Tournament, amassing 174 points to outdistance runner-up Billings Senior at 156.5. Capital placed ninth in the 30-team tourney with 101 points, while Helena High scored 79 and finished 15th.

Helena's Isaac Romero repeated as LeProwse champ, garnering the 113-pound championship with a 6-4 decision over Trevin Welzin (Missoula Big Sky). Romero is now a 2-time titlist in the Bozeman event, having claimed the 103 crown last year. Seth Jensen, Capital's 205-pounder, placed second, being edged by Blaine Buchanan (Huntley Project) 11-7.

Romero, who improves to 21-1 with 12 pins, pinned Easton Shupe (Great Falls High) in 2:49 in the semis to reach the finals. Jensen decisioned Jarrett Leinwand (Billings Senior) 5-2 to advance the title match, and now stands at 20-4 with 14 pins.

The Bruins' Travis Schulte (22-5) placed third at 145, with an 11-7 decision over Kyle Gordon (Missoula Big Sky) in the consolation finals.

"I'm really proud of Seth's tenacity, he was way down early in his finals match and battled all the way back," CHS coach Jeff Mahana said. "And Travis had a solid weekend, revenging an earlier loss in the third-place match. I'm happy with the team's performance as a whole, the entire team collected a lot of bonus points."

Helena coach John Burke's Bengals placed three matmen in the top four with Devin Crawford and Austin Murphy both finishing fourth.

Crawford (22-4) was reached the 138 conso finals, dropping a narrow 2-1 decision to Brock Rodriguez (Bozeman). Murphy (16-7) placed fourth at 126, also losing by 1-point, to Clay Fischer (Butte Central), 3-2.
