Jefferson volleyball 1-1 at Southern B Divisionals

RED LODGE — The Jefferson High volleyball team went 1-1 at the Southern B Divisional Tournament on Thursday. The Panthers opened with a five-set win over Colstrip, 14-25, 25-20, 25-19, 20-25, 15-7.

"We were sparked off the bench in game two by Katy Twichel and Callie Warfle, both contributed three kills each," JHS coach Mike Majors said.

Jefferson was then defeated by Huntley Project in four, 25-11, 25-19, 25-27, 25-14.

"That is the first time we have ever taken a set from Huntley," said Majors, Jefferson's sixth-year coach.

JHS's Emily McGinnis had 34 kills for the day. Aubrey McMaster set 64 assists and served three aces. Simonie Mendenhall posted 26 blocks and Hayden Henschel led the squad in digs.

JHS will face the winner of the Baker-Forsyth match at 4 p.m. Friday.
