HELENA -- Sparked by the play of Emily Feller and Jamie Pickens, Helena High volleyball swept Missoula Big Sky in their regular season finale on the road, 25-17, 26-24, 25-18.
The victory on Saturday moves Helena, which finishes in third place in the conference standings, to 13-7 overall and 8-4 in Western AA play. The Bengals tied with runner-up Capital (8-4), but the Bruins held the tiebreaker.
Feller, a 5-foot-9 sophomore setter, passed for 27 assists and registered 12 digs, while Pickens belted 13 kills and blocked five shots. HHS teammate Kaci Lloyd fired a couple of service aces.
"We are playing very consistent and with confidence right now, I like this momentum going into the playoffs," said coach Lindsey Day, whose Bengals will host a playoff match next week. "The girls have been very disciplined and driven everyday at practice, and it's reflected in our games."
