The Helena High softball team captured both ends of a Western Conference doubleheader on the road, beating Flathead 7-3 and Glacier 9-1.

In the opener, Helena pitcher Mariah English fired a three-hitter against the Bravettes with 14 strikeouts and eight walks.

Offensively, the Bengals jacked three home runs by Vanessa Walsh, English, and a three-run shot by Mackenna Schmolke.

Jamie Pickens led the 14-hit parade with three singles, followed by two hits apiece by Kali Anderson, Walsh, Addie Slanger and English.

Flathead pitcher Maitlynn Betts was hung with the loss.

In Game 2, both teams had five hits, but the Wolfpack committed four costly errors, while Helena's defense was flawless in the field.

Schmolke's two-run tater was the big blast for Helena. She finished the day with two homers and five RBIs. Walsh and English both had a double and a RBI.

English spun her second win of the day on the rubber, while Sage Vanterpool took the loss.

Vanterpool drove in two runs, and Glacier teammate Allee Meyer went yard.
