HELENA -- Capital High's Kielar Jones led all local golfers with her third-place finish at the Gallatin Valley Invitational Golf Tournament on Tuesday. Jones fired a PR of 82, and placed third in the individual standings of the five-team tourney.
"That was the low round of Kielar's career," CHS coach Tim Kelly said.
Bozeman won both the boys (307) and girls (313) sides of the team tourney. Helena's girls were the top local team, carding a 385 and placing runner-up. The Capital and Bengal boys tied for third with identical 322s, while the Bruin ladies also finished third at 406.
Reyla Williams and Grace Jones paced HHS' girls with a 90 and 95, respectively, followed by Ginny Kerr's 97.
On the boys' side, the best local scores were a trio of 78s, by Capital's Gabe Witham and Tyzer Furlong, and Helena's Austin Murphy.
"Austin did a nice job of battling back, our (boys) team was tightly bunched," Bengals coach Bob Tipton said. "Reyla is getting more consistent ... we're working towards five girls under 100."
