The Townsend football team's season came to an end on Saturday with a 27-13 road loss to Colstrip in the first round of the Class B playoffs. The game went into the fourth quarter with the score knotted at 13-13 before Colstrip scored twice in final frame to pull away.
"We really outplayed them for most of the game, unfortunately we just came up a few plays short," related coach Travis Rauh, whose Bulldog gridders finish the year at 4-5. "We had several opportunities in the second and third quarters to really take control, but I had some untimely mistakes."
Scoring for Townsend were Justin Denton, who returned a fumble recovery 60 yards to the house, and a 12-yard touchdown run by quarterback Tyson Racht. 'Dawg running back Kyle Spritzer toted the ball 22 times for 153 yards.
"I'm just extremely proud of this team, they stuck together and battled the whole day just like they've done all year," the Townsend skipper said.
