New year, new rankings.

The high school basketball will kick back up this week, and with that, the first boys and girls rankings of the season are here.

On the boys side, Missoula Sentinel, Hamilton, Bigfork and defending-champion Arlee all own the top spots. In Class AA, Bozeman, Great Falls, Missoula Hellgate and Billings Senior all round out the top five.

In Class A Hardin, Billings Central, Livingston and Butte Central make up the top five behind Hamilton. Colstrip comes in at No. 2 in Class B followed by Roundup, Anaconda, Three Forks, Florence, Joliet, Rocky Boy, Lame Deer and Missoula Loyola.

Scobey grabs the second spot in Class C while Melstone, Sunburst, Gardiner, Great Falls Central, Manhattan Christian, North Star, Lone Peak and Bridger all round out the top ten.

Defending champions Helena, Columbia Falls and Belt sit atop their respective girls basketball rankings.

Columbia Falls (6-1) tops unbeatens Hamilton and Havre, both 6-0, in Class A, while Belt (4-0) is No. 1 in the Class C poll ahead of Box Elder (6-0). Helena (4-0) tops the Class AA rankings and Three Forks (6-0) the Class B rankings.

All four classes could see some early shakeup, though, as the season re-boots on Thursday. On Friday, Box Elder plays host to No. 4 Fort Benton in a Class C clash while in Class B, Three Forks travels to No. 3 Townsend on Saturday.
