In the junior varsity crosstown football game last weekend, which started out as a defensive battle early, Capital High's JV prevailed over Helena for a 20-14 win.
Capital caught a break when Anthony Guccione returned an HHS fumble 30 yards resulting in a first and goal inside the 10-yard line. The Bruins capitalized with a Noah Braden touchdown run followed by a nice throw and catch from Cade Kidder to Kaelan Casey in the back of the end zone for the 2-point conversion, making it 8-7.
In the second quarter Will Butler's interception set up a Cade Kidder to Brady Martin 5-yard TD strike. The second half saw both teams trading possession before Kadyn Craigle iced the game with a 50-yard pick six, putting CHS up 20-7.
Other key performances for the Bruins included Connor Stephenson and Blaise Murphy on the offensive line and Alex Barker, Josh Lee, and Monte Pearson on defense.
