Helena – Carroll College men’s basketball coach Brandon Veltri said forward Renan Custodio has transferred from Utah State University Eastern (Price, Utah) on Friday.
Custodio, a 6-foot-8 forward originally from Criciuma, Brazil, will be a junior this season for the Saints.
He played the last two seasons for the Screaming Eagles, including alongside current Carroll forward Andy Dalton as a freshman, and helped lead the club to 45 wins — including an appearance in the 2009 NJCAA national semifinals.
As a sophomore, Custodio scored 6.3 points per game and shot 48 percent from the floor, including 41 percent on 3-pointers.
“At 6-8 (Custodio) is not only a great perimeter shooter, but also an efficient player around the rim,” Veltri said in a press release announcing the transfer. “He has the size, skill level and athleticism which should help us compete against the best teams in the Frontier Conference, as well as the top NAIA programs across the country.”
Custodio held a 3.6 GPA at USU Eastern after completing his associates degree.
