The Montana Tech volleyball team has signed the program's first recruit of 2017, coach Brian Solomon announced Wednesday. Jefferson High School standout Emily McGinnis signed an NAIA letter of intent to play for Tech next fall.

McGinnis, a 6-foot-1 middle hitter, is already a two-time All-Conference selection and was named All-State last year. She was an honorable mention in the Independent Record’s 2016 Top 5 Female Athletes of the Year. McGinnis has two school records: Kills in a season (440) and most kills in a set (15).

Emily, the daughter of Cindy and Randy, has Tech green and copper in her family. Her father graduated from Montana Tech with a business degree. McGinnis plans on pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering.
