Carroll College Saints women’s basketball coach Rachelle Sayers talks often about the importance of playing a difficult nonconference schedule.
Carroll’s schedule and its 5-2 record caught the eyes of voters in the latest Top 25 NAIA coaches’ poll. The Saints broke into the poll at No. 21. Carroll received votes in the preseason poll, but were on the outside looking in to begin the season.
The Saints made the jump up thanks to their win over now-ranked No. 11 Westmont and an exhibition win over Boise State. Carroll possesses wins over College of Idaho, Saint Thomas University, Northwest University, Westmont and University of Providence. The Saints fell to No. 15 The Master’s and No. 22 Montana State-Northern.
Lewis-Clark State continues to be the frontrunner of the Frontier Conference, though the Warriors fell from their preseason No. 2 spot. LSCS is ranked No. 6 in the latest poll after a 9-2 start.
Montana Western climbed this week, moving up to No. 12 from its No. 16 spot in the preseason. The Bulldogs started the season 7-2.
MSU-Northern dropped one spot from No. 21 to No. 22 this week after a 6-4 start on the year.
Carroll hits the road this weekend for a pair of games in Spokane against Whitman College and Whitworth University.
