The Carroll College Saints are marching again.
The NAIA released its first regular season Top 25 poll on Tuesday, and the Saints skyrocketed to the No. 4 position, receiving one first place vote. Coaches ranked Carroll No. 12 in the preseason.
The Saints started off the season undefeated at 8-0, with a difficult resume that captured the attention of voters. Carroll also opened the Frontier Conference season with two road victories over MSU-Northern and University of Providence. Carroll is now among nine undefeated teams left in the NAIA.
The No. 4 ranking matches the highest the Saints have climbed under coach Carson Cunningham.
Carroll is ranked behind No. 1 Georgetown (13-0), No. 2 LSU-Shreveport (8-0) and No. 3 William Penn (11-1).
Carroll becomes the highest ranked member of the Frontier.
Montana Western ranked the highest in the preseason poll after Frontier coaches picked the Bulldogs as the league favorites. After suffering a road loss to Lewis-Clark State College, the Bulldogs (7-1) fell from No. 8 to No. 17.
The Warriors of Lewis-Clark State also jumped up, thanks in part to the aforementioned win over Western. LCSC is ranked No. 11 now with its 10-1 record.
Carroll jumps back into nonconference play this week as the Saints host Salish Kootenai College on Friday.
