HELENA -- The Carroll College men remained perfect on the season, defeating MSU-Northern 99-90 in overtime Friday night in Havre.
The Saints were trailing 39-30 at halftime but came roaring back in the second half to send the game to overtime tied at 84-all. Carroll then dominated the extra session, outscoring the Lights 15-6 in overtime for the win.
The Saints (7-0, 1-0) carried over their strong nonconference play into the Frontier opener, as Ryan Imhoff scored 34 points and Match Burnham added 27 to lead Carroll to the win.
Starters Matt Wyman and Lorel Johnson were also in double figures for the Saints with 19 and 11 points respectively. Wyman had a team-high eight rebounds and Johnson and Imhoff each had four assists.
The Carroll women were less fortunate in their first conference game of the season as the Saints fell to the Lights 53-42 earlier in the evening.
Carroll was undone by a second quarter in which they scored just six points, going into the half down 25-18.
Hannah Dean was the only player to score in double figures for the Saints as she finished with 12 points, six rebounds, five blocks and two assists.
The Saints are on the road for another conference contest Sunday against the University of Providence in Great Falls. The Carroll women play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
