BOZEMAN — Montana State’s Tyler Hall was named to the preseason watchlist for the 2018 Julius Erving Award, which is given annually by the National Basketball Hall of Fame to the nation’s top collegiate small forward.
The honor has been awarded since 2015. Last year’s winner was Josh Hart of Villanova.
Hall is entering his junior season at Montana State. As a sophomore, Hall averaged 23.1 points per game and was among the leaders in Division I in scoring and 3-pointers. He has scored 1,317 career points
Hall was named Big Sky Conference preseason MVP for the 2017-18 season on Oct. 12.
“Tyler has worked very hard and he’s earned these honors with his performance,” Montana State coach Brian Fish said in a release. “But I also know that this is recognition for the entire team.
"For one player to succeed everyone has to do their job. That’s what we’re working for, and I know that Tyler would trade all the individual honors for wins. That’s what he’s about, and that’s what we emphasize in our program.”
